Audiology & Hearing Aid Clinic in Chennai

Hearing loss is often gradual, which makes it easy to underestimate until it starts affecting conversations, work or safety. Our audiology clinic evaluates hearing at every age — from newborn and paediatric screening concerns to age-related hearing loss (presbycusis) — and turns that assessment into a practical plan, whether that's a hearing aid, medical treatment, or referral for cochlear implantation.

Because audiology and ENT surgery sit under one roof at Royal Pearl, patients whose hearing loss needs a surgical solution — such as tympanoplasty, stapedectomy or cochlear implantation — move directly from testing to specialist consultation without being sent elsewhere.

Conditions We Treat
  • Age-related hearing loss (presbycusis)
  • Noise-induced hearing loss
  • Conductive hearing loss from ear infections or fluid
  • Sudden hearing loss
  • Tinnitus (ringing or buzzing in the ears)
  • Hearing loss following cholesteatoma or chronic ear infection

Questions Answered

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I need a hearing test?

Common signs include frequently asking people to repeat themselves, turning the TV volume higher than others need, difficulty following conversation in noisy places, or ringing in the ears. A baseline audiometric test will confirm whether — and how much — hearing loss is present.

Will I definitely need a hearing aid?

Not necessarily. Some hearing loss is caused by infection, fluid or earwax and can be treated medically. A hearing aid is recommended only after an ENT evaluation confirms it's the right solution.

Do you offer cochlear implants?

Yes. For patients with severe to profound hearing loss who aren't helped sufficiently by hearing aids, Dr. Sathya Narayanan JD evaluates suitability for cochlear implantation.

How long does a hearing aid fitting take?

The initial fitting appointment typically takes under an hour, though fine-tuning over follow-up visits helps get the settings right for your specific hearing loss and lifestyle.

Can hearing loss be reversed?

It depends on the cause. Hearing loss from earwax, fluid or infection is often reversible with treatment; age-related and noise-induced hearing loss is usually permanent but very manageable with the right hearing aid.
